Hetrofen Sp Tablet Is Orally Administered For The Relief Of Pain And Inflammation In Osteoarthritis, Rheumatoid Arthritis And Ankylosing Spondylitis.
Hetrofen SP Tablet is a combination medication containing:
- Aceclofenac (100 mg) – a Non Steroidal Anti Inflammatory Drug (NSAID)
- Paracetamol (500 mg) – an Analgesic and Antipyretic
- Serratiopeptidase (15 mg) – a Proteolytic Enzyme
Uses and Indications:
Hetrofen SP is prescribed for:
- Rheumatoid arthritis
- Osteoarthritis
- Ankylosing spondylitis
- Postoperative pain
- Musculoskeletal and joint pain
It effectively reduces pain and inflammation associated with these conditions.
Mechanism of Action:
- Aceclofenac inhibits the production of inflammatory cytokines and prostaglandins, reducing inflammation and pain.
- Paracetamol acts centrally to elevate the pain threshold and reduce fever.
- Serratiopeptidase breaks down abnormal proteins at the site of inflammation, aiding in tissue repair and reducing swelling.
Dosage and Administration:

Drug Interactions:
- Paracetamol: May interact with alcohol, barbiturates, carbamazepine, hydantoins, isoniazid, rifampin, and sulfinpyrazone, increasing the risk of liver damage.
- Aceclofenac: May increase plasma concentrations of lithium and digoxin, enhance the activity of anticoagulants, and increase plasma methotrexate levels leading to toxicity if administered within 2–4 hours of methotrexate administration. It may also increase nephrotoxicity when used with diuretics and should be used cautiously with potassium-sparing diuretics.
